Leszek Sliwko

Leszek is a highly qualified IT professional (15 years’ experience in Scala/Java, and backend systems development) with a sound understanding of the software development life cycle, architecture design and the requirement for team coordination. He has worked in multiple sectors including UK Government, Investment Banking, Financial Consultancy, Insurance and Telecoms. His roles have included Team Lead, Technical Architect and Software Developer. The upshot of this is a strong track record in positive team working.

At present he leads a team of Scala programmers in developing and maintaining several internal UK Government systems which are deployed within Kubernetes/Docker clusters. His wide range of experience includes creating an investment robot-adviser, developing real-time derivatives pricing frameworks, automating portfolio hedging systems and supporting the deployment of financial regulations in investment banks like Dodd-Frank act and Basel II.

Leszek is keen on experimenting with the latest technologies, especially those related to High-Performance Computing.  He has been awarded a Ph.D. in Parallel and Distributed Computing for his work developing a novel AI-driven load balancer for Cloud systems. He is also a well-regarded speaker, and has presented at international events such as IEEE conferences, internal UK Home Office The Forge Tech talks, and also Scala seminars like Scala in the City and Scala Central.
